Business growth loans are for UK businesses that have been trading for at least 12 months, know exactly what the money is for, and can show how they'll repay it. If you tick most of the boxes below, we should be able to help.

The criteria

  • A UK-registered limited company, LLP or partnership. Sole traders are considered case by case.
  • At least 12 months of trading history. Two years is preferred for unsecured options.
  • Filed accounts at Companies House, or up-to-date management accounts.
  • A clear use of funds, such as stock, hiring, equipment, premises or an acquisition. Concrete, not general.
  • The ability to repay from trading cash flow, contracted revenue or the sale of assets.
  • Directors aged 18 or over, UK-resident, with no recent unspent convictions for fraud.
  • A reasonable credit profile. Adverse credit isn't an automatic no. See Can I get a business growth loan with bad credit or CCJs?.
  • Personal or business security for facilities above £250,000. It isn't always needed below that. See Will I have to give a personal guarantee?.

Amounts

From £25,000 to £10 million, depending on your purpose, trading history and the security you can offer.

Trading for less than 12 months?

Growth finance isn't available yet. A Start Up Loan may suit you instead: it's open to businesses that are pre-launch or trading for up to 60 months. See How long do I need to have been trading for a business growth loan?.

Borrowing £25,000 or less as a sole trader or a small partnership?

That borrowing is regulated consumer credit, and we arrange it through Start Up Loans. See Start Up Loan eligibility.
