Besides interest, a lender may charge other fees. They vary by lender and product, and they'll all be shown in your offer, so you can compare the full cost.
Costs you might see
- Arrangement fee: charged by the lender for setting up the facility, often a percentage of the amount.
- Valuation fee: for secured lending and commercial mortgages, to value the property or asset.
- Legal fees: for secured facilities and property, for your own solicitor and sometimes the lender's.
- Early repayment or breakage costs: some facilities charge for repaying early, particularly fixed-rate loans. See Can I repay a business growth loan early?.
- Service fees: invoice finance usually has a service fee alongside the charge on invoices funded.
- Non-utilisation fees: some revolving facilities charge on the part of the limit you don't use.
