You need three planning documents (a business plan, a personal survival budget and a cash flow forecast), plus three months of personal bank statements and proof of who you are, where you live and your bank account. You don't need any of it before you contact us.
The planning documents
These are the heart of your application:
- Business plan: what the business does, who it sells to, and how the loan will be spent.
- Personal survival budget: your household income and outgoings, showing you can live and repay the loan. See What is your personal survival budget?
- Cash flow forecast: the money you expect in and out of the business over the next 12 months.
Supporting documents
- Three months of personal bank statements, consecutive and showing every transaction.
- Proof of identity, such as a passport or a UK driving licence.
- Proof of address, such as a recent utility bill or council tax bill.
- Proof of your bank account: the personal account the loan will be paid into.
The scheme can ask for more evidence if it needs to verify something. If you're on a visa, your advisor will tell you what's needed for that.
Tips that save time
- Upload colour scans or photos of the original documents, with all the edges visible.
- Statements downloaded from online banking should be the PDF, not a screenshot.
- Utility bills need to be recent (within three months). Council tax and government letters can be up to 12 months old.
