Yes, you can do either. You can appeal within 30 days of receiving your outcome email, or reapply once six months have passed since the original decision. Either way it comes back through bizbritain: once an application has been declined, you stay with the same Business Support Partner.
Appealing a decision
You have 30 days from your outcome email.
- Declined at the credit check: first get a copy of your credit report and correct any mistakes with the credit reference agency. Then appeal, giving your reasons and a copy of your report.
- Declined at assessment: appeal through us, explaining why and including any new information.
Every decline has already had a second internal review, so appeals succeed most often when you have something new to add.
Reapplying
You can apply again six months after the original decision. You'll need to show what has changed, for example:
- your personal finances have improved
- your plan is stronger, or better evidenced
- you have proof of real demand, such as early sales or orders
- you're asking for a smaller amount your budget can carry
You may need updated documents and a new credit check.
Why applications are declined
The most common reasons are affordability (the budget doesn't show you can repay comfortably) and viability (the plan doesn't yet show the business can carry the loan). Your advisor can tell you which applied to you.
Can I go to another Business Support Partner instead?
No. Once an application has been declined, you stay with the same partner for any appeal or reapplication.
