A bizbritain Business Advisor assesses your application against the scheme's requirements: your eligibility, your credit history, whether you can afford the loan, and whether the business plan stands up. Every approval and every decline then gets a second internal review.
What's assessed
- Eligibility: you and your business meet the scheme's criteria. See Start Up Loan eligibility: am I eligible?.
- Credit: your personal credit check. A poor history isn't an automatic no. See I have poor credit history: will I be declined?.
- Affordability: your personal survival budget shows you can cover your living costs and the repayments. See What is your personal survival budget?
- Viability: your business plan and cash flow forecast show there's real demand, the numbers are realistic, and the business can carry the loan.
Evidence that helps
- Validation: proof that people want what you're selling. See What is validation and why is it necessary?
- Your ability: experience or skills that show you can run the business. See How to evidence your ability.
- A back-up plan: how you'd repay if the business didn't work out. See What is a back-up plan and why do I need one?
The outcome
Your application is approved, withdrawn or declined. Most declines come down to affordability or viability. If your application is declined, see My application was declined: can I appeal or reapply?.
What happens next
See What happens after I submit my application? for the steps from submission to funding.
