Yes, and it's easiest if you plan for it from the start. Your existing lender's facility may restrict further acquisitions, so if you expect to buy more, build room for it into the first deal.

Plan for the pipeline

When you arrange your first facility, ask for:

  • an acquisition or accordion facility, extra borrowing you can draw for future deals
  • permitted acquisitions: clear rules allowing deals of a certain size without asking each time

If your facility doesn't allow it

You'll need your lender's consent, a change to the facility, or a refinance that covers the enlarged group.

What lenders look for before the next deal

  • the first acquisition performing to plan
  • integration under control
  • profits that comfortably cover the existing debt

Buy-and-build
